The Picton Men’s Community Shed was established in 2009 and began life working in the Sea Scout Shed in the Picton Marina, with support and encouragement from REAP Marlborough and Picton Seaport Trust . As part of the Picton Foreshore upgrade, the shed was shifted to the Power House Site on Wairau Rd and we became tenants of the Seaport Trust and in return for a low rental, the shed members provided many hundreds of hours to Trust projects.

For the best part of 8 years, this arrangement was mutually beneficial to both parties, and the Mens Shed built up its workshop equipment and became an established organisation in the Picton community.

Our Shed Members provided muscle and know how, in shifting buildings, like the row of boat sheds from the Picton Marina to their present site, along with rebuilding the Nata Lee Montague Whaler, which took up all of Bill Rogers time, and keeping the old buildings on the site under repair.
In mid 2016 the Seaport Trust advised us that they required the shed for their on going site development and the search was on for a new site. This turned out to be the old Toy Library building, which after negotiations with the Department of Conservation, became our headquarters and owners of the building for as long as we are in existence.

We are now well into our new site and nothing stays in place for long, In this building alone, we have just moved into kitchen No 4
