As at September 2025 the Shed has 51 financial members
We are affiliated with the New Zealand Menz Shed organisation, but operate independently under our own constitution.
The group now operates from the building which formerly housed the Toy Library, and is well provisioned with hand tools, power tools, woodworking machinery, a metal-turning lathe, welding gear and more recently we offer a Laser engraving service.
Members work on a wide and varied range of activities, some of which include knife and tool sharpening, furniture making and repairs, off-site community tasks, propagating plants and gardening and of course, their own private projects. There is plenty of opportunity for new initiatives/projects that may bring in a new group of men, come down and have a chat or contact any committee member.
A recent innovation was a new shed for our kindling project. We are grateful to Picton Four Square for selling our kindling on behalf.
There is a strong emphasis on men’s health and well-being.
Open Hours
The Shed is open Wednesdays, 9 am – 4 pm, and Saturdays, 9 am – 12 noon.
On the last Saturday of each month we hold a garage sale.
The Picton Shed is always keen to attract new members.
Similarly, visitors to Picton, or those passing through, are encouraged to drop in on our working days and have a look around. They’ll receive a warm welcome.
Location
The Picton Men’s Community Shed is located at 2 Market Street Picton, which is on the corner of Dublin & Market St, just over the railway crossing on Dublin Street.
