Ten Years On

Saturday 13th April 2019, was a red letter day for Picton Men’s Shed.

Not only a celebration of a significant milestone, but an opportunity to recognise significant contributions to the success of “Picton Men’s Community Shed”.

On hand to help us celebrate were Alan Thomas and Ailsa Carey of REAP Marlborough, both of whom were instrumental in getting the Men’s Shed up and running back in 2009.

From a startup in the Sea Scouts Shed on Picton Foreshore, activities moved (along with the building) to the Power House Site on Wairau Road, working alongside and with the Seaport Trust, who were to be our landlords for the next eight years.

Membership grew, the machinery asset register increased and many projects for the Trust were completed alongside knife sharpening and general repairs to furniture and equipment for our townspeople. Traps for the newly established Kaipupu Point and Dawn Chorus Trusts, and three massive Trebuchet for the 2016/17 Scout Jamboree in Blenheim.
